About 1/3 the way up the mountain these hikers have no problem.  Some used hiking poles which I highly recommend not only for going up but for the descent as well which will provide you with more stability if you find your legs getting a little wobbly towards the end of the hike. A comfortable pair of sneakers or hiking boots, atleast a litre and a half of water and some high energy snacks.  Always check the weather forecast before you go, getting lost in fog, wind and rain wouldn't be much fun not to mention dangerous.  For more information please check the Parks Canada - Gros Morne website Another good source with itinerary and trip description is Giorgio Zanettis' website
